Goodbye, North Carolina! Hello, Paris!

We’ve spent the last week in North Carolina with Cody’s sister, Kimberlee, our brother-in-law, Josh, and our super cute, almost two-year-old nephew, Noah. We had an AMAZING time! They live in a beautiful home on a Marine Corps base called Camp Lejeune. Their backyard includes a forest and this huge pond where you can feed ducks, and if you walked out of the front yard and across the street, there is a cute little park for Noah to play in. Also, like Minneapolis, everything is green there. We haven’t seen this much color since leaving California (we still love you though, Los Angeles)!

Over the last week in North Carolina, we’ve visited a beautiful, old, riverfront town called Swansboro where we ate a delicious dinner – think shrimp and scallop nachos, ribeye steaks, and good wine! The homes in Swansboro are very cute, cottagey, and each one is at least 100 years old. We also went to a super trendy city about an hour away from the base called Wilmington where we had dinner, beer, and ice cream… What more could you ask for?!

Josh’s sister and her family also live in North Carolina, so we got to spend some time with them as well. One night, we all went to a restaurant called Marina Cafe in Jacksonville, where we ate dinner right next to the water and then went on a two hour river cruise. Noah was so excited and was letting everyone know that he was on a boat. It was so cute. On Halloween night, we went trick-or-treating with him and the fam, minus Josh. Josh has been taking a pretty intense course where he’s had to be gone quite a bit, but he graduates on Friday… yay! (Congratulations, Josh!)

So, now we’re in Paris… and we’re writing this from the cute little studio we rented. We just got in a few hours ago and we’re exhausted because we barely slept on the plane, but we can’t stop smiling! We’re so happy to be here again. The last time we visited Paris was for our honeymoon and we couldn’t get enough of it. We’re looking forward to the next 4 days here.

Here are some pictures from North Carolina:

Jogging on base:

This was a few days before Halloween. We had to test the candy out for the kids to make sure everything was good.

Wilmington (One Tree Hill was filmed in this city!):

Hanging out in Josh’s sister’s backyard after a delicious dinner:

Cody making pancakes with a baby on his shoulders. Hot, right?

And we’ll leave you with this picture of a cute puppy on Halloween:

With lots of love,

What amazing pictures! Erik and I will be in Paris on Wednesday! Please let us know if there is any place/thing that we can’t miss out on! Love you both!

    1. Thank you, Jen! I can’t believe we’re barely missing you! We won’t be going on this trip, but the last time we were here, we rented bikes in the gardens at Versaille and biked around for 2+ hours. It was THE best experience ever. For a romantic French dinner, check out Hotel Amour and request to sit in the patio/garden area, but make reservations first! Also, check out Rue Cler. It’s a popular market street that has great food and it’s really fun to walk through. Looking forward to hearing about your trip!
