Welcome to our first blog post!
We started this blog to share our adventures and experiences over the next nine months as we travel around the world. Making the decision to drop everything and travel was tough, but after weighing the pros and cons, it became much easier… we don’t have kids, we don’t own a house, we only recently graduated, and we love to travel. Whenever we come back home from traveling somewhere, we feel the need for more. Experiencing different cultures and eating delicious food from around the world is what we live for! The toughest part about our decision was thinking about not seeing our family and friends for nine months, leaving our dog, Kona, with family, and quitting our jobs. We’re having a really hard time thinking about how much we will miss everyone and the things we will miss out on, but it will be an adventure for sure. After making a couple of stops to visit family in Minnesota and North Carolina, we will start our international travels. We are so excited.
Our 3-day road trip to Minneapolis began on Tuesday, driving from California through Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota… It was BEAUTIFUL. We had such an amazing time that we could have gone for a few more days.
We’re having a great time staying with Deena’s brother (Rommy), sister-in-law (Terri), and our three nephews in Minneapolis (Sam is 3, Asher is 2, and Jesse is 10 months… they are freakin’ adorable). They will be Kona’s family for the next nine months and she will be spoiled rotten with so much
food spillage fun going on in the house with three little boys. We are so lucky to have family willing to take on our 115 pound dog for 9 months. They took us to a cute little town called Stillwater located right along the St. Croix River. The river divides Minnesota and Wisconsin, so we drove across the bridge just to say we’ve been to Wisconsin 🙂 We’ve also gone to a neighborhood party, met some sweet Minnesotans, and sat around a bonfire. We road our bikes with Terri and the kids around beautiful Lake Nokomis and stopped at a little shop for coffee and donuts. It’s cold here in Minneapolis, but it’s beautiful and sunny!
